Wishtale Privacy Policy

What we use and why

No account is required. A random installation ID, device-integrity proofs and short-lived session credentials protect the service. We keep subscription-verification, allowance, cost and security records to provide access, prevent duplicate charges and misuse, and handle required accounting. Apple handles payment details; we do not receive your payment-card number. Service providers receive normal connection information, such as IP addresses, when your device connects.

When you agree to create a story, your selected answers, optional scene and any short recap you explicitly choose to upload go to Google Cloud for AI writing and safety checks. The resulting script goes to Microsoft Azure to create speech. Cloud processing uses US service regions. Our operator is in Australia; providers may process limited service, security or support data in other countries under their terms. Avoid entering sensitive details or information about other people.

Your optional nickname stays on your device. Saved stories, audio, playback progress and personal widget choices stay on your device unless you deliberately export or share them. We do not operate a cross-device story backup. Reinstalling the app or changing devices may lose saved recordings; export what you want to keep.

Optional usage data is off until you choose it. If enabled, it records a small set of app steps and subscription conversions, app version and limited source information. With that choice, an Apple attribution token may be sent to Apple to identify an advertising source; we do not store that raw token. Your questionnaire, story, nickname and audio are not usage-event fields. We do not sell personal information or use story content to train our own AI models.

Storage and deletion

• Answers and uploaded recaps become unavailable after success or definite failure, or within one hour. Scheduled physical cleanup may take longer during faults.
• Generated text, audio and subtitles are downloadable for up to 24 hours after completion. Expiry blocks access immediately; scheduled physical cleanup can take longer, especially during faults.
• Optional usage events are kept for up to 30 days and aggregate counts without installation identifiers for up to 90 days. In-app feedback, including an excerpt you expressly choose to send, is kept for up to 30 days.
• Necessary installation, subscription, security, duplicate-request and cost records are separate from story content and may be kept for up to 180 days under the app's retention rules; records legally required for longer are retained only as necessary. Support emails are used to answer and resolve your request.
• Verified downloads remain on your device until you delete them. Wishtale excludes its saved story files from iCloud backup.

These are our application-storage rules, not a promise that every provider immediately deletes all copies. Provider safety, abuse-prevention and legal requirements can apply. See Google Cloud data governance and Azure text-to-speech privacy.

Public website

Our public website is hosted by Cloudflare. The hosting provider processes basic connection and network-error information to deliver and protect these pages. We do not add advertising trackers, forms or analytics scripts to the site.

Your choices

In Settings, turn off optional usage data, delete stories on this device, or request deletion of cloud personal content. Turning usage data off stops new events and clears pending events; activity from while it was off is not uploaded later. Cloud deletion revokes delivery access and starts cleanup. It does not erase exports, another device's copies or Apple's records, reset necessary allowance/security records, or cancel an Apple subscription. Local deletion clears the related personal widget reference.

Sharing and personal widget text are optional. Shared text can reveal personal experiences; check the preview and remember that other people may see your device or saved exports. An external support directory or email service follows its own privacy policy; we do not send your questionnaire or story to a directory link.

Wishtale is for adults aged 18 or over. Contact us about access, correction, deletion, a privacy concern, or a child's information; we may need to verify the request. You can also contact the relevant privacy regulator in your country. We will publish policy changes here with a new updated date.
